But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9)
As I shared previously, this Sunday I sang the offering song at my Church, and while it wasn’t the first time I ever sang at Church, it was the first time I invited someone else to coach me in preparing the song and really tried practicing the vocals and attempting to improve and grow in my singing.
In selecting the song, “Amazing Grace”, I really wanted to push myself to try and share a bit of my personal testimony before singing, to try and communicate how God has been really speaking to me lately about just how amazing His grace has been in my life, and how powerful and faithful God has been to truly save me, to heal my heart, renew my mind, restore my soul and will to live over these past 20 years (I counted and realized it was just about 20 years ago that I made my suicide attempt as a 16-year-old teenager; see my story here).
I regret that in spending much of my time practicing the vocals, in addition to a heavy week emotionally and spiritually (two of my good friends lost a close relative both on the previous Sunday), I never managed to sit down and write out what I wanted to say word for word, so my sharing came out a bit disjointed, yet at the same time I’m glad that I still pushed myself to share part of my testimony, which perhaps will be the beginning of me figuring out what and how I need to further articulate my journey…
It isn’t perfect, but the experience for what I believe God is walking me through was indeed a perfect first step that was important for me to make, and which I couldn’t have taken without the support and help of my awesome community:

During my preparations last week, I also explored YouTube a little bit (I am still not super familiar or accustomed to using most social media sites, such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram etc. — but these and just social media and the internet in general are on my explore-and-get-familiar-with list this year), searching for other versions of “Amazing Grace.”
In case you are interested, here is a short video on The Story Behind The Song.
Here are 3 singers who I think did an extraordinary job singing this song:
(1) My favorite version is actually sung by a 7 year old, Rhema Marvanne!:
