Today I went to go check on the renovations at our second investment house hoping that everything was close to being finished, as we have tenants moving in on January 1st. I was a bit nervous travelling for Christmas just in case something could’ve gone wrong or been delayed while we were gone, with not much time to fix things this week…

THANKFULLY when I arrived, and saw our contractor had also just arrived at the house as well looking not at all stressed, I was pretty sure we were well under way. Then after entering the house I saw that everything was FINISHED! 🙂

There seems to be an issue however worth our newly installed furnace, but I called that company and have someone scheduled to come fix it tomorrow afternoon–so all that HAS to be done will be done in time for New Year’s Eve.

I may need to take care of the cleaning myself this time around as I haven’t heard back from the cleaning company we used last year, but with my Norwex mop and cloths I’m not worried about that at all (might recruit the girls to help a bit for some cleaning experience?).

Overall this project has been much smoother and honestly quite “easy” perhaps in part because it’s the second time around…

But I think I’m realizing at the end of the day it really makes a HUGE difference when you are able to hire good quality people whom you can really trust to be honest, reliable, and hardworking… And especially when they have good attitudes as well, it just makes everything that much smoother and less stressful.

I am soooooo happy with the general contractor we used this time around, who basically took care of all the renovations for me plus fixed things here and there that needed fixing. Hopefully I’ll be able to “pay him back” with future work and/or referrals. For this house, we also had a company come in to replace the furnace and water heater (there were some “melted” exposed wires that we could’ve had rewired, but I pictured that other wires would soon likely end up in the same condition and that wasn’t a worry/risk worth taking), and we had this local screen/gutter company we’ve happily hired multiple times to put in screens and clean the gutters.

Anyhow here’s hoping the “rest” all goes smoothly today and tomorrow, and my “work” there will be all done for the new year and all that is to come in 2015!
